Who are you?
Are you Lady Gaga or One Direction? I had the music video channel on yesterday as I rearranged the front room to make way for an accidentally over large Christmas tree, when I noticed that, all bar one of the members of the group, One Direction had comb-overs!
Now I don’t know about you but that was something grandfathers (and some others) did to hide hair loss. So why were teenage lads doing it? In fact, I then started to notice some girls in videos had them too!
Everywhere I look “I see comb-overs”!
I started to wonder whether this fashion “craze” was a bit like the “emperor’s new clothes” … a big joke that only the initiator knew about and everyone else blindly followed.
Or is it a business imperative – to look like and fit in with the norm … others in your industry …?
So who are you? Do you have to fit in with the rest of the businesses in your sector – to conform in some way or does your business allow or even demand that you stand out?
I guess I stand out as a female professional property investor – I can count less than three in my arena. I know of only two others that have written books and one of those is Kim Kiyosaki. There are I am sure more but they don’t source for other clients or teach – they have not chosen to raise their heads above the parapets. I believe I have a different business philosophy than most of the “boys” in property investing; I really want to help my clients, more than I want to make money from them.
So who are you and why? Are you sporting a comb-over?
