Flies and jelly fish

Posted by:

With all this beautiful weather (haahaa), we having been struggling to find a moment t0 leave the windows open at home …. Why is it that flies … blue bottles or the common house fly, immediately come in the house and fly round in circles endlessly. At least bees and wasps have the brains to bang into the windows in a bid to escape. It made me think of when I was diving last year and watched a trio fo ...

What is your time worth?

Posted by:

Have you noticed how the same messages appear in your life over and over? I have been so busy this year – what a great experience so many opportunities from my book launch to speaking engagements, coaching clients, mentees and people wanting me to build their portfolios for them.

The same message keeps appearing…we can understand the concept of leveraging money – great make our money work for us – but if you don’t leverage your time then you will be ...

Payday loan scandal

Posted by:

Pay day loans and …. exorbitant cost of lending is it right?

I notice the small print on things whether I am shopping for bargains in my supermarket or reading adverts on the Tube or in the press.

What do you think of these interest rates?

It might be legal but is it morally right?

The devil is in the detail

Posted by:

This has never been more true than with the sex of my kitten. When I collected Mischief I was (I thought) reliably informed that she was a female. Having just returned from the vets this afternoon – it is clear that everyone was wrong!

Mischief is a boy with very small “bits”, so small that we have had to delay his neutering for another 6 – 8 weeks to let them grow …. Before they can be removed!!

It is often the ...

Can you be over focused?

Posted by:

I have often described myself as having OCD with a touch of ADHD in that I am very focused until I get distracted! It certainly does not come easily, which is possible why the distractions do come easily haahaa

Just recently I took possession of two new kittens – Mum 9 months called Minnie (because she is really a big mouse) and her baby 12 weeks called Mischief (who is actually more like Mayhem!!).

I dawned on me the other day Continue Reading →

Curly or straight – is branding important

Posted by:

My hair is both a blessing and a bind. It is curly and I am very grateful for that. Over the years it has saved me thousands of pounds in either straighteners or perms depending on current fashion. But I had also become complacent and boring as I always went to the same hairdresser for the same cut and highlights.

Time for a change – a new year and all that. So taking the advice of a friend I visited her ...

Is Presentation or Content more important in marketing?

Posted by:

I have been really aware lately just how much effort some companies are putting into the presentation of their sales offer and wondered whether the presentation or the content was more important. I know that while I am attracted by presentation if the content fails to meet expectation then I am quite unforgiving, compared to a service for which I had no expectations.

We met up with my daughter at her university in Kingston at the weekend and decided to ...

How responsible are you?

Posted by:

I live off a busy main road and periodically there are bad crashes as people take the corners too fast – so we get used to the road being closed. Last week I was on my way out to post some of my books  for an Amazon order when I realised the road must be closed again.

Sadly this time the accident was reported on the local news as an uninsured driver, unlicensed driver  who had run ...

The “Straddle”…really?

Posted by:

What started as a sensible article in the Evening Standard had my blood boiling within paragraphs …

Top tips for cashing in on austerity should have been a hint.

Last week the calls were for Goodwin to be stripped of his peerage, Hester stripped of his bonus and now the papers are promoting schemes and gambles to strip the average man on the street of his shirt!

How’s this … The ...

SWAP rate v Base Rate

Posted by:

Fascinating point made in the Evening Standard paper on Tuesday 31st Jan.

Lucy Tobin the journalist was recommending that home buyers should lock in the cheap rates now on the personal mortgages. While the Bank of England Rate may well stay low for the next 12-18 months – the money they lend to us is bought on the open market.

The crisis in the Eurozone is pushing up “swap” rates  which is the cost of inter-bank borrowing. As ...
