The English Housing Survey reported in the Independant revealed that 1.1 million families now rent their home from a private landlord, nearly double the amount five years ago.

While renters seem to be aging and have more disposable income than before – they are struggling to keep up with rising rental prices. As a proportion more and more of their income is going to pay rent.
