The macro – micro of diving – you need both in business

I am sure you know how much I love scuba diving. Each time I dive I become aware of the styles and experience of other divers in our group, as this changes with each holiday. It’s a bit like underwater observation.

Where Bob and I love to take photographs and our preference is for close ups of small an interesting images our diving style is a more micro approach – we get close to the reefs and swim very very slowly.Continue Reading →

When luxury is worth £4.50 per night

When we first looked at travelling to Thailand my daughter sent over details of a possible schedule. I checked out the hotel options on trip advisor. One suggestion PrikThai was reported to be in the middle of the bars and the competing noise was too much even for ear plugs …… I started to look for more options.

I came across Sabai Sabai – it was a ten minute walk down the beach, “nestled in a small valley of coconut trees” ...

Focusing on the negative

When we transferred from the beautiful and laid back Island of Koh Tao to the raw exploitation and commercialism of Koh Samui it was hard not to focus on the negative. The change so dramatic. The impact so harsh. The blatant selling of women in the bars to old European and Russian men shocking.

For all my positive thinking and understanding of how the mind works – I found myself focused on the negative – noticing the difference –

Wow – I was woken up by the wind !!

That was amazing wind last night – I was woken up as it started to whistle through the open windows and I could feel the pressure in the bedroom as each gust pushed through. As I drifted back to sleep the rhythm of the wind and the ebb and flow of pressure must have reminded me of the underwater currents I have experienced when scuba diving, as my alter-ego The Property Mermaid :)
