Belief vs Imagination

Posted by:

I woke up this morning with a profound thought … my life is made up or shaped by those things I believe … and my future will be all that I can imagine. I think that this realisation is the culmination of a week full of ‘messages’, thoughts and ideas. It is also all about choice.

Do you ever go to events – listen to speakers and then a few days later at another event a different speaker says the same ...

Wow – I was woken up by the wind !!

Posted by:

That was amazing wind last night – I was woken up as it started to whistle through the open windows and I could feel the pressure in the bedroom as each gust pushed through. As I drifted back to sleep the rhythm of the wind and the ebb and flow of pressure must have reminded me of the underwater currents I have experienced when scuba diving, as my alter-ego The Property Mermaid :)

As I fell back ...

Complaining or just telling it how it is?

Posted by:

After last week’s article on gratitude and saying thank you – it seems ironic that this week I might be seen to be complaining. Maybe everyone is having a summer customer service survey, maybe it’s the impact of the recession getting everyone to look more closely at the service they offer?

First I received a letter from RBS advising me of a forthcoming survey and asking would I take part. The Director introduced himself and made a point of saying customer ...

A spanner in the works – does wonders for your planning !!

Posted by:

Well obviously not ! The whole point of planning is to allocate specific time to specific important tasks, achieving your goals more easily as you master managing your time and creating a more productive outcome.

Then all of a sudden the spanner arrives !

I had been doing really well with managing my time, I tend to focus on a maximum of three key tasks in a day (no more than that), once they are complete I then identify the next three tasks or ...

Looking for the small stuff

Posted by:

I love underwater photography, I am not sure what makes it so exciting, is it the new creatures you discover? the challenge of taking a good shot while floating, or resisting a current at depths up to 90 feet below the surface? is it the memories it brings back? - who knows, but I am hooked.

If I could, I would spend every waking moment below the sea somewhere (with warm water – I am a bit choosy :)Continue Reading →

Seeing a different angle

Posted by:

It is quite difficult sometimes – with all the pressures we are under to be creative, reflective, inspirational. The hussle and bussle – the noise, the distractions. That is one of the reasons I love scuba diving :) Peace and quiet, the warm water, the gentle current (if you are lucky) and the amazing opportunities to see new things or see them in a different way.

During this month’s trip to Nuweiba, we dived a site ...

Did you know that Orange smarties taste of orange?

Posted by:

I think because we sometimes shovel more than one Smartie in at a time lots of people don’t know that orange Smarties are filled with orange flavoured chocolate. When I was younger I used to eat them one at a time to make them last, taking each sweet and sucking off the coating then prying the case open with my tongue while being careful not to break it (who am I kidding – I still do it). That’s how I ...

A Polo neck jumper in May – are you mad?

Posted by:

Well I may be – but that is another topic all together :)

I can’t believe how cold it has been – randomn coldness – most strange – bound to be global warming or global cooling, next we’ll have snow in July !

sepia-snow-churchAnyway I was so cold the other day I really wanted to put the heating on. I just managed to resist. Twice a year I have ...

I thought I was adventurous?

Posted by:

I thought I was an adventurer, I am an adventurer! Then when did I become too scared to ice skate ! We went ice skating in Slough with the nieces-in-law (in common law ?!?) aged 3 and 4 years old.
I took one look at the speed of the other (very professional) skaters and decided that I wasn’t going on the ice. I think it all started last December when for one of our regular ‘get togethers’ with ...

How do you react when disappointed?

Posted by:

I remember one Christmas when we were meant to be flying out on holiday :) and yes the plane took off, then instead of turning right towards the glorious Red Sea in Egypt, where a week of diving awaited me, the plane turned left and dumped fuel over the North Sea just before landing back in Gatwick. Obviously a plane load of people were very disappointed.

An amazing thing happened, the captain left the secure confines ...
