Have you got the skills of a successful business owner?

Posted by:

How do you know? I love a good quiz – a test! I know what colour I am, what quadrant I am in, my preferred this and least preferred other….I will say that I also totally reject any form of labelling because I believe that we are all capable of so much and draw on our innate strengths as circumstances demand.

So when Mark Barrow of the Property Investor Mindset ...

Profit, what is left after you have paid your expenses?

Posted by:

Sometimes when business is challenging our focus slips to sales – sales are crucially important – so are systems and good accounting.

If you were to increase your sales by 2% and reduce your costs by 2% then the compounding effect over a year would be equivalent to a 44% increase in revenue with only 2% increased sales effort!

What is your time worth?

Posted by:

Have you noticed how the same messages appear in your life over and over? I have been so busy this year – what a great experience so many opportunities from my book launch to speaking engagements, coaching clients, mentees and people wanting me to build their portfolios for them.

The same message keeps appearing…we can understand the concept of leveraging money – great make our money work for us – but if you don’t leverage your time then you will be ...

Boys are more of a problem than girls

Posted by:

That was the announcement by my insurance company when I rang up to update them on the Mischief “She/he” saga. Boys are more of a problem than girls and so Mischief continues in his new reign of chaos and mayhem by costing me another £25 a year insurance!!

There was a temptation to return him as faulty goods haa haa – first “she” is a “he”, then his “bits” are too small for an operation which means another 6 weeks indoors, ...

Can you be over focused?

Posted by:

I have often described myself as having OCD with a touch of ADHD in that I am very focused until I get distracted! It certainly does not come easily, which is possible why the distractions do come easily haahaa

Just recently I took possession of two new kittens – Mum 9 months called Minnie (because she is really a big mouse) and her baby 12 weeks called Mischief (who is actually more like Mayhem!!).

I dawned on me the other day Continue Reading →

How hard can it be to get a tree?

Posted by:

I wanted a tree with a root this year. Surely it would hold its pine needles better, then I could plant it in the woods somewhere, afterwards.

3 B&Q, 2 Sainsburys, 1 Tesco and a garden centre later I surrendered and bought a tree that had been cut. It was dark, cold and not feeling much like Christmas by the time we finished. Six and half hours of my life had disappeared.

I had seen the original rooted trees in B&Q a ...

Should I send Cards?

Posted by:

What is the etiquette these days? Should I send cards?

Last year I was feeling really bar humbug and didn’t send anyone cards except my immediate family. I posted a message on Facebook and sent a text to a few friends that was all. I broke the mould or pattern of hours of writing cards.

Pros – saving money, saving trees, saved my tongue from licking stamps,

Cons – lack of that Christmas tradition – ...

A new way of thinking

Posted by:

About eight weeks ago I went to a Whole Mind Seminar with Tom Evans a great event that pushed my boundaries – always the best kind. I practised mediation and a new way of enabling my mind to think – together – in unison and for one purpose.

Over the next two days I am not sure whether I was “filtering” for different information as amazing things were happening – I let Tom know.Continue Reading →

Why is out sourcing so hard?

Posted by:

I am not even going to mention my VA by name this time as it’s becoming a plug-fest ….. why is it that when I can meet someone face to face and feel like I can trust them that the relationship works so much better?

She who won’t be named is great – handles everything I throw at her and makes valuable suggestions and contributions to my business.

On the other hand – I thought ...

Mind the scissors

Posted by:

I am very blessed with a mop of naturally curly hair and like all things in life it comes with its own challenges. The curls are springy until they reach a certain length. At this point the weight of the “hanging” hair applies enough drag that the tension in the curl gives and the hair straightens ever so slightly.

This can literally happen overnight – one day I will be able to see the next day my hair appears over half ...
