I won’t be labelled!

Posted by:

I’d like to think I am emotionally resilient, that I am a well-rounded and emotionally stable individual … Maybe I am ….maybe I am not … maybe the jury is still out.

I recently spent an amazing couple of days at a training course to focus on growing my business, after all this is a double dip recession and the time when multi- million business grow. The content was powerful and insightful, my notes copious.

What I had not bargained ...

Customer service – placing an advert.

Customer service – placing an advert.

My father was planning for the Christmas rush and decided that he would buy a full page paper advert. He spoke to a contact there and agreed an editorial to accompany the advert. The paper said they would send a journalist. Seven days passed by and no-one came. Then after ten days he was about to call the paper again, when the journalist arrived. They carried out the interview and the journalist said he would return with the proof the ...

Are you queuing for the exit?

Posted by:

I have been travelling into London by train quite a lot lately and I am totally fascinated by the whole process. It’s odd I used to travel every day on the train and of course once you run your own business there is not always a set pattern to your day like there was when you were an employee.

I heard a news story about a man that had created a table that showed commuters exactly what carriage to use to ...

Deleting messages what about conversations

Posted by:

I was going through my phone the other day deleting old text messages. I like a tidy inbox :)

It is quite easy to delete a text message or even and email – just a click of a button. But what about the meanings and the feelings that were associated with them.

I was recently at an event where a presenter asked the audience to carry out a test. Most of us did. I ...

Making time for personal life

Posted by:

One of my clients started to explored scuba diving after one of our chats. Within months she had travelled to Egypt and qualified as an advanced diver and even seen a Manta Ray !! She found something that she loved doing. She also started to think about her life and her job and what she enjoyed less.

That’s when we really started to talk about property investment and what she did want life to be like. She had a dream to ...

Sales – how do your customers get to engage with you

Posted by:

My first thought on this topic is pure and simple; email, phone, Facebook, text or Twitter. Where do you customers hang out and can they get hold of you if they need to? Can they get hold of you in their preferred method?

I wanted to speak to my website guy about a mess I made when updating ThePropertyMemaid.com website (you should never let a Digital Muppet near technology), and I could not find his ...

Is there a glass ceiling for women?

Posted by:

I am not sure this is even the right question to be honest – but let’s stay with this at the moment. Media reports and research do prove that there are less women in senior positions in board rooms and corporations. They earn less and don’t get (seemingly) the same opportunities to rise.

There are facts here that make this an obvious conclusion, first many women will take a career break to have children and so that often Continue Reading →

Are you awake? Or asleep without realising it?

Posted by:

This is another blog prompted by a great book written by Tom Evans called This we know. In one of the chapters Tom points out that of the 7 billion people on the planet about 2 billion people are asleep at any one time.

Of those of you that are awake one billion more are on the internet (maybe like you reading a blog or watching a video), another billion are Continue Reading →

Demotivating your staff – to save money

Posted by:

I was speaking with a client the other day and they were talking about their job. They had just been through a performance review interview with their manager. The purpose is to discuss how they are doing at work whether they are meeting their targets and whether they have any challenges (or the manager with them).

The conversation had been extremely positive – in fact they had “exceeded” all the targets they had been set and more.

There is another purpose to ...

Is a Jelly brain dead?

Posted by:

I love watching QI with Stephen Fry – it’s how I wish school had been; fun and informative …but that might be another blog haa haa

We watched QI the other evening and they came up with the “fact” that scientists had been running tests on jelly and actually it had the same electrical current and pattern as the human brain.

While there is a scientific debate about what constitutes brain dead if a jelly can be “proven” to be “alive” – ...
