It’s all about choices

Life is all about choices – some large, some smaller, some we don’t realise the significance of until much later. Something simple like the difference between a pair of sun glasses or an umberella for example. Well it was sunny as we parked the car …. and very windy, an umberella would have been the height of madness unless we wanted to fly around Kew Gardens like Mary Poppins.My father and my grandfather always said NEVER hide under a tree in the rain (on the principle that we might get struck by lightening). We were about an hour into our walk, it had been bright and breezy for an August Bank Holiday, and while there were clouds in the sky – nothing that seemed to threatening …… or so I thought.

The rain waited until we were far enough away from the Japanese Mizzen House to run back for shelter and then it let rip. From five gentle drops to a torrential down pour in seconds, we could hear the screams and squeals as other walkers were caught out in the open….

One advantage of walking in Kew Gardens is that there are lots of trees, and we quickly identified the nearest thickly branched trees and nestled in close to the truck for protection. (I must say in my very strange mind, I see a parallel here with the current economic climate and property investing !!! Economic downpour, not taking the advice of elder and more cautious investors, I know if I stay close to the tree of property investing I can stay safe and dry…. now that was weird even for me !!!)

The walk was all about choices, the decisions I make on a daily basis – not always knowing the impact of small decisions until much later. I recently read Jeff Olsen and the Slight Edge – a brilliant book that is all about choices …. highly recommended.

Well the good news is that our choice that day had not bad effect, in fact it was quite a giggle, it was also about quality time and fresh air with the man I love, doing something healthy and having a laugh …. what more could you ask for a Bank Holiday in the UK
