I am devastated
I am devastated, the kids programme “Joan of Arcadia” has finished on TV, what am I going to watch for inspiration? :) I doubt many of you will have watched this programme. I only discovered it on the advice of my daughter – very astute of her.
Those of you that know me, will know what an amazing time I have been having for the last two years, full of personal development and an incredible awaking of my mind and its potential to influence my future, massive amounts of property investment, finance and economics training, opportunities to create wealth for myself and others. I have always been a ‘glass half full’, adventurous, out going type of girl, and so I was surprised to find that I could recognise even more opportunities to learn from the events and people around me. That one piece of learning has so changed the way I think and the results I am getting. In less than four months I have totally immersed myself in property investment knowledge.

Anyway I was talking about Joan of Arcadia, “why!” I can hear you cry. I will tell you. First I will explain a little about the programme. Joan is a sixteen year old American high school kid, new in town and struggling to fit in to her new school. She starts to get visits from God, who asks her to do strange things and certainly things she doesn’t want to do or sees the point of. While I enjoyed the banter between God and Joan and the all round humour of the programme (it really was very funny in places) I started to see a repeating message. You never know the consequences of your actions. Sometimes we are able to see immediate cause and effect, push and something falls, drops and something breaks. But what is the effect of a kind word, our action or inaction at anytime. What impact has my words of encouragement had on other investor, how has sharing my motivation inspired others to go on and invest in property, to become independently wealthy, to help others.
Frequently in the programme Joan was asked to join in something, to take part in band practice (she couldn’t play any instruments), makeup class (she is a tomboy), cheer leading (she has no rhythm). The end result of each of these tasks was random act of kindness, a connection, often with someone she least expected, and with amazing results.
It really made me think about how I touch the lives of people I meet. First I must say I haven’t been getting messages from God, (well not that I explicitly know of like Joan :) ) and know I don’t think I am so amazing as to be miraculously changing peoples lives. I mean in a more general, human and ordinary way. How did I speak to that person in the queue, behind the till, my daughter, my partner? What effect did my words or actions today have on people I know and people I don’t know? As I said above – did my words help someone to decide to invest in property, did they get the answer or encouragement they needed?
What ripples do I create, I hope they are positive, I hope and aim to leave people better (if no worse) for their interaction with me. I am not sure that I am just talking about politeness, it feels more than that, it feels like actually caring about the people I meet, or connect with in someway.
Joan never understood what the consequences or ripples of her actions would be, sometimes things went wrong and there were negative ripples which she would desperately and humorously attempt to redress, but even the negative ripples happen for a reason and it just takes a little time to learn what needs to be learnt, see what needs to be seen.
To our mutual success, wealth and happiness
