Did you know that Orange smarties taste of orange?

I think because we sometimes shovel more than one Smartie in at a time lots of people don’t know that orange Smarties are filled with orange flavoured chocolate. When I was younger I used to eat them one at a time to make them last, taking each sweet and sucking off the coating then prying the case open with my tongue while being careful not to break it (who am I kidding – I still do it). That’s how I discovered the orange ones tasted of orange.

Lots of people don’t seem to know this ! On the Smarties website - most people have voted blue as their favourite colour – why ? Top three colours are blue, orange and pink – don’t people know !

It’s a bit like that in business – spotting the opportunities that others don’t see, taking the time to look and check / test /taste things Trying something different. Even last night my friend Ashna invited me round to meet some work of her friends that wanted to talk to me about opportunities in property investment and how I could help them. She was the perfect hostess and cooked Spaghetti Puttanesca.

She used Jamie Oliver’s receipe – it contains tomatoes, olives, chilli, capers and king prawns. I held the belief that I really, really hated capers and didn’t like olives nor my food that hot and spicy. Wow when it arrived at the table – it certainly looked impressive, but I was stressed and moved the capers and olives to one side of my plate. Til I suddenly ate a caper by mistake and it wasn’t so bad, so next mouthful I didn’t pick bits out …. on and on this when – until I went back for seconds

It is a series of limiting beliefs and a reluctance to change that can really hold us back – in life and in business and certainly in our range and choice of restaurant meals Something that we didn’t like, believe or agree with last decade, last year, last month may not hold true now. Routine and fear of change are powerful negative influences in our lives and need to be monitored carefully.
